Brief History of Charles Raymond Picking by Randy Picking, Nephew
 

Charles Raymond Picking was born on January 1, 1923, in Dickinson County, Kansas, not far from the boyhood home of General 
Dwight D. Eisenhower, in Abilene, Kansas.  

He was the oldest of 6 children born to Charles and Flora Picking.  

After 3 years of high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Army on February 2, 1943, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.   

His name is on the Wall of the Missing at Cambridge American Cemetery.  He was loved by his parents, brothers and sisters, all who thought of him until their dying day.  His many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews are very proud of his service to the Nation, and Raymond is a Hero in our family.
